Recalling the Remarkable Vision of the Second Vatican Council
This workshop will place the Second Vatican Council in a larger historical context and consider its principal contributions to the life of the church today.
The Church as Teacher: Issues for Pastoral and Catechetical Leaders
Today pastoral leaders are often forced to grapple with numerous issues related to the church’s teaching authority. This workshop will provide a theological framework for understanding the church’s teaching authority that is grounded in the teaching of the Second Vatican Council and in the missionary spirit of Pope Francis. The workshop will attend to the distinct responsibilities and contributions of the magisterium, theologians, pastoral ministers and all God’s people in handing on the faith.
Preparing and Sustaining Committed Sacramental Marriages in Contemporary Culture
This workshop is designed for mature married couples, sponsor couples and all whose ministry involves preparing engaged couples for marriage and ministering to married couples. In the workshop I outline the cultural challenges that make sustaining marriage so difficult today. Then I offer sessions that mine our theological and spiritual tradition for resources that can sustain married couples through difficult times.
Becoming What We Receive: Cultivating a Eucharistic Spirituality
This workshop is designed for parish liturgical ministers (cantors, choir members, lectors, ushers, special ministers of communion) and other parishioners who wish to deepen their liturgical/eucharistic spirituality. In this workshop I explore the untapped riches of our Roman Catholic liturgical tradition in order to enhance and deepen Catholic appreciation for the liturgical life of the church and the mass in particular.
